Hello PPSD Community,
As you may have heard, today I had the honor of being named the permanent superintendent of Providence Public Schools by Governor McKee and Commissioner Infante-Green. Throughout my 26 years working in PPSD as a teacher, assistant principal, principal, and now in my current role, I have always reminded myself that this is a team effort. So I know this day would not have come without the incredible amount of time and effort that our students, teachers, and staff put in every day, or without the community thatmade me who I am. That’s why your feedback will always be respected in my office. I promise you that I will always work to get better, and our students will come first in every decision I make. I will also remember that the most important part of communicating is to listen. The voices of our students, staff, and community are what shaped the Turnaround Action Plan, and that is why the TAP must be our roadmap to success. The pandemic has been a major obstacle, but we have evolved the TAP accordingly and we now have our goals clearly ahead. We have already made so much progress together, and Ilook forward to working with you all to make Providence Schools into the destination for education.Thank you.
Respectfully, Dr. Javier MontañezSuperintendent
