Providence, RI - October 20, 2020: The Providence Pirates
are pleased to announce they have completed their first combine for the year,
this past weekend at the Johnston Rec Center!
A major first step in building the team, 17 individuals from
all over the state of Rhode Island, as well as Southern Mass, competed in
numerous professional drills, as well as scrimmages against one another. All to
see which of the players had the ability and mentality, to board our ship and
assist our crew in our maiden voyage. For several hours, the staff of the
Pirates was able to not only get a taste of what these men brought to the table
but were thrilled to get to know each and every one of these men as well!
Special thanks to Nkrumah Jones, head coach at Bunker Hill
Community College and professional basketball trainer (known for training
Duncan Robinson from Miami Heat and countless others), assisting the Staff this
weekend, taking players through the drills, and being a vocal leader throughout
the tryout.
Make sure to stay up to date with our social media, as well
as our podcast series, for in-depth interviews from players and coaches
throughout the combine. Also look for local media and podcasts as well to get more
information about the combine.
Stay tuned for an upcoming announcement about a second
combine, as we continue to build our team, that will be a powerhouse and
mainstay in the Providence community for years to come!
Go Pirates!
