STATE HOUSE – Rep. Scott A. Slater (D-Dist. 10, Providence)
is calling the Public Utilities Commission’s recent decision to approve
electric rate increases for National Grid “unacceptable.”
“Our residents are struggling and for our lower income
residents, every single dollar in their pockets counts to provide for
themselves and their families. The PUC’s decision to allow these rate
increases is unacceptable and make no mistake about it, come this winter,
people’s lights will be turned off and their homes will go cold due to this
Rather than helping a multi-national corporation, the PUC
should be doing their jobs and protecting our most vulnerable residents.
I will be looking into any and all legislative solutions to this serious matter
because this is simply kicking people while they are already down, and that is
not right,” said Representative Slater.
